Will be – residence Playing Memories

The exclusive setting of Villa Marini Cattaneo in the city of Pordenone hosts the Juke Box performance, the fifth stage of “Playing Memories,” to be replicated in Bogotá, Colombia. Playing Memories is a project of the Saint Louis College of Music, co-produced with the Alfredo Casella Conservatory in L’Aquila, the Fondazione Accademia Teatro alla Scala in Milan, RUFA and ISIA Rome.

“Juke Box” is the title of the new artistic residency, conceived by dancer and choreographer Matteo Esposito, which presents an ambitious multidisciplinary show with a strong performative character.

Villa Cattaneo becomes the protagonist of the performance, turning into a real narrative device: a poetic juke-box, capable of evoking not only music, but also memories, scents and people.

The mansion’s rooms, its spaces and paths, are fragments of a journey through time and mystery. The audience is invited to explore them as parts of a moving mechanism.

Each environment is a track to be activated, a fragment of a song to be heard, a scent to be remembered, or a character to be deciphered whose name we do not know.

We meet a man who regrets a forbidden love, a woman who bears the burden of distance from her homeland, a writer who writes a letter to a friend she never forgot. Their lives slowly unravel through hints, installations and clues, visual and aural.

Welcoming the audience is an enigmatic, silent figure: a mask that walks through the rooms like a shadow ferrywoman, leading visitors from the entrance of the villa to the top floor, to the final room, where live music and dance take center stage. Now the characters interact, dancing to the last piece, the one that gives meaning to the entire journey.

The international repetition of the performance will be in Bogotá, at the Escuela de Artes y Creación – Universidad Sergio Arboleda, the partner institute of this residency, where “Jukebox” will be rearranged in a new stage form, designed for the stage only.
