Second call for performers, deadline June 5, 2025

EXTENSION OF THE SECOND CALL FOR PERFORMERS. Application deadline: 5 June.

In September/October 2024, the first selection round was launched for artists and performers who will take part in the project Playing Memories, dedicated to the creation of multidisciplinary artistic performances in various international cities.

The Playing Memories project aims to highlight and promote Italy’s cultural and artistic heritage through the reinterpretation and contemporary adaptation of various Italian musical repertoires. The artistic residencies and performances will be documented by a television crew to produce a two-season docuseries, consisting of 24 episodes in total, to be distributed on a prestigious international streaming platform.

Applications can be submitted either as a lead artist (by responding to the Call for Artists) or as a performer (by responding to the Call for Performers). It is also possible to be selected for both categories.

In April 2025, new selections are opening for performers who will take part in the final 4 artistic residencies of Playing Memories, which will be featured in the second season of the TV docuseries.

The second Call for Performers, with a deadline for applications set for June 5, 2025, aims to select a variety of profiles in the fields of performing and visual arts, including: musicians (winds, strings, piano arranger, double bass), pop and/or Renaissance singers, opera singers, contemporary dancers, actors/actresses, dance-theatre performers, sound designers, sculptors, set designers, costume designers, visual artists, and light designers.

The first calls closed on October 15, 2024. It is now possible to apply for the second Call for Performers until June 5, 2025.

Call for Artist

Selection of lead artists (dancers, musicians, visual artists, photographers, set designers, etc.) to lead creative teams in the international artistic residencies of the Playing Memories project.

The lead artist will be responsible for conceptualizing the theme of the residency and will guide a group of 8-15 performers (dancers, musicians, visual artists, photographers, etc.) through a collaborative creative process. Together, they will create an original multidisciplinary performance that combines various art forms, from visual art to music, dance, and set design.

Projects exploring the following are accepted:

  • Music and works by Italian composers from all eras.

  • Italian repertoires of popular and regional origins.

  • Original compositions created by artists and performers.

  • Italian music and works from films, musicals, and musical theatre.

  • Italian jazz repertoires, both historical and contemporary, or original.

  • Italian pop-rock repertoires, both historical and contemporary, or original.

Call for Performer

Call for performers (dancers, musicians, visual artists, photographers, set designers, etc.) to take part in the international project Playing Memories.

Between 70 and 100 artists will be selected to join creative teams during artistic residencies. Performers will work side by side with lead artists to create and stage multidisciplinary performances. Each 15-day residency will culminate in a final performance, which will be documented for an international TV docuseries.
