Eternal Naples – playing memories – Third episode

Napoli Eterna, final performance of the third artistic residency of Playing Memories, will be premiered to the public on Saturday, Feb. 8, at the La Base cultural center in Milan, and then leave for Paris to perform on Jan. 10 at the Salle Colonne in Boulevard Auguste Blanqui, 94.

“Napoli Eterna” is a sensory journey that explores the deep soul of Naples, a city suspended between the past and the future, where light and shadow, joy and melancholy, tradition and modernity coexist in a continuous dialogue.

In the multidisciplinary performance, on the musical reinterpretations of the repertoire of Roberto De Simone and Salvatore Di Giacomo, the interweaving of dance, poetry, visual art, ancient sounds and electronic music draws the city’s path by recounting the indelible traces left by its historical dominations-Arab, Spanish and French-to a futuristic vision.

The artistic cast, consisting of thirteen students, chosen from among the best students from the most prestigious Institutes of Higher Education in art and music (including three from the “Pôle Supérieur Paris Boulogne-Billancourt”), spent fifteen days at “La Base” center in the city of Milan.

Here, starting with singer Gabriella Di Capua’s initial idea, musical arrangements, choreography and video projections were created from scratch, culminating in a performance that not only celebrates the city of Naples but reinvents it, projecting it into the future.

“Napoli Eterna” is part of ‘Playing Memories,’ a project of Saint Louis College of Music, in co-production with Alfredo Casella Conservatory of L’Aquila, Fondazione Accademia d’Arti e Mestieri dello Spettacolo Teatro alla Scala in Milan, RUFA, ISIA in Rome.

With the special collaboration of the Pôle Supérieur Paris Boulogne-Billancourt.
